The Apprentice has made Donald Trump one of the most famous businessmen in the world today. When the Apprentice first started I had no interest in watching it since I like to seriously limit my evening time in front of a TV. I do make a few exceptions for sporting events though. One day I was at a business lunch meeting when the the two men I was meeting suddenly switched the conversation from business development to "The Apprentice." They started showing each other how well they could point and say "You're Fired," which I didn't find very amusing since I didn't know what they were talking about. When one of them mentioned how many business tips he got from each show I started paying attention. That was the first year, I don't think I have missed an episode since then. Say what you will about Donald Trump's personal life or social views, but the man does know business and how to make a "buck or two." Each show has some tips, ideas, and some "do's and don'ts" for business. One of my favorites are the Donald Trump quotes that show up in most of the shows. Then there are the suits, shirts and ties he wears in the boardroom.

Summer proved two points in the boardroom on the night of the first episode. You have to know when to talk, like when Carolyn asked her what she contributed to the team. Carolyn asked her three times and Summer was speechless. You need to know when to shut up. When Mr. Trump was hammering away at Tarek and everyone know he was so close to saying "you're fired," Summer's voice came back. She jumped in the conversation, interrupting Mr. Trump, who admitted he was about to fire Tarek. She wouldn't shut up and very quickly she heard the famous words "you're fired."
If your competitor is getting hammered by a prospect, don't be too quick to come top their aid. As a matter of fact, keep your mouth shut and keep a low profile.
